founder & educator
Meet Maureen Hanton, RN, MPA
Maureen began her nursing career in the early 90s as an ob-gyn nurse then moved to IVF nursing in 1997 and has been there since.
Her career has included work as a clinical IVF nurse, nurse manager, director of nursing, patient educator, and in clinic outreach, sales, and marketing. She earned a Master of Public Administration with the intention of moving into health policy but ultimately stayed in fertility care.
Her perspective is also personal: she was an IVF patient and donor recipient and later became an embryo donor herself.
Of all the roles she has held, precepting new nurses has always been a favorite. She has a particular soft spot for nurses just entering the field and trying to make sense of the science, the language, and the pace of fertility care.
Maureen created IVF University in 2020 to make the complex science of fertility care more understandable and accessible to healthcare professionals and patients alike. Her hope is that better understanding will draw more people into the field, strengthen the quality of care, support the growth of fertility programs, and ultimately help expand access to treatment.
